This morning we woke to weather that we were expecting for our entire trip.
Cool, overcast, breezy, and generally nippy.
We bundled up and headed out to walk the Freedom Trail.
Bruce and I have been to Boston a couple of times and have
done the trail before but never with a guide.
Today we decided to take a guided tour so that the kids would have a better experience.
What a wonderful idea!
We lucked out with a wonderfully animated guide who called himself Bully Jim Denton.
He reinacted an actual resident of Boston and stayed in character the whole time.
Bully Jim did a terrific job of making the history of the time come alive for us.
In the Granary Cemetary he talked about the notable "residents" there.
This is the monument to Paul Revere. Not his grave.
His grave is the tiny stone to the right of the monument.
See it there next to larger flag?
The tour ended by Bully Jim telling is that he is actually James Paul Denton, Jr.!
He is the 9th generation of James Dentons in the area.
He discovered Bully Jim while researching James Adams as a possible character to reinact.
Pretty cool, huh?
After all of that walking we needed a little treat, right?
Modern Pastry rocks. Just sayin'.
I haven't seen this kind of pastry spread since Paris.
Mighty yummy.
Our last stop of the day is the Old North Church.
Other than some sore feet we are having a blast!
We are onto Lexington and Concord tomorrow.
